Are There Any Craft Fairs in Scotland for a Woodworker?

Hello,

I am new to this 'forum' concept of communication, so please forgive me if I have made, or make, a faux pas.  I am a woodworker in Falkirk and am basically looking to sell my woodwork at Craft Fairs but am finding it very difficult to find any in Central Scotland.  I have applied to a couple of Fairs in Dumfries and Galloway but have been unable to find any more, especially nearer home.  I would be happy to travel to the likes of Perth and Kinross and perhaps further if necessary.  Is there anyone out there who could advise please?  I would be most grateful.

Thank you

David

Hi David,

The forum is for posting discussions, requests for advice on any topic you want relating to scottish craft, or even just general business issues, so you've come to the right place!

It just so happens there is an annual Wood Market held where I live in Peebles, this is part of the Tweed Valley Forest Festival.  This may be of interest and is generally a popular local event.  Have a look at their website here.

Hope this helps.

Hi David!

Have you tried Tryst Craft fairs? They are based at Larbert, close to Falkirk. Also, Forth Valley college puts on craft fairs. You can look at the college web site to see if there are any coming up.

There's also regular craft fairs at Dunblane Cathedral Halls. I haven't been to this one yet, but we have one booked.

Scottish Produce Fairs hold craft fairs in Dunfermline & a bit further afield are Lothian Events.

Hope this is of some help!

Good luck!

Karen

Thank you very much Stuart for responding.  I will certainly take a look at the website a you suggest.

Regards

David

Thank you for your response Karen.  You have given me a number of areas to look into and I will certainly do that straight away.  Hopefully I will be able to procure a table at most, if not all, of them.

Hi David

We have just been approached by the large shopping centrein Falkirk to set up craft fair inside it. We are in the early stages but are happy to add your name to our mailing list to send you the details when we get them. We also have monthly events running in shopping centres in Ayr and Irvine if that is any intrest to you.

have a look at our website www.glimmercraftsevents.co.uk

Thank you for your reply Tracey. I'm not sure if what I make would be suitable for Glimmer Crafts. I am a woodworker making kitchen ware like salt and pepper mills, cook book stands, cutting boards etc from sustainable and recycled hardwood. My prices at the moment range from between £25 to £65. Would these prices be prohibitive for your Fairs? If not, I am happy to be added to your mailing list.

Thank you once again for your response.

Hi David

We do not have any control over stallholders prices, we just invite them along and then selling their items is up to them. We are happy to add you our mailing list and give you any info about our fairs and if you are interested in any, just email us. We do have 3 woodturners who work with us at various times throughout the year and seem to do well at times.

Hope to meet with you in the future

Good Luck with your craft

Tracey

Thanks Tracey

Happy to be added to your mailing list and look forward to meeting up with you too.

Regards

David
