Hi there,

I'm a jeweller. I make one off designs mainly in silver and gold and like incorporating whatever takes my fancy. This is usually gems, as I do like my sparklies!

I'm based in Falkirk and have a wee workshop, where you'll find me making my jewellery amid organised mess.

Glad there's a site for scottish crafters.

Hello,
My name is Vicki Mitchell I am a textile artist living in Paxton a very small village in the Scottish Borders .After spending four years taking my City and Guilds exams in patchwork, quilting and embroidery I now teach from my home, I also give talks and workshops to local textile groups. I have only found the time for my interest in textiles since my two dear daughters left home.It is wonderful to have an online network specifically for crafts people.

hi i am new here

Hi,
I'm Fiona and have just joined. I was delighted to find that there was a site for Scottish Crafters as I believe that keeping in touch with like-minded people is by far one of the best ways to learn and to promote your wares.
I make jewellery using buttons, beads and crystals and love bright colours and a bit of bling! You can find me at www.buttonbling.co.ukI've just started out and unfortunately I have a day job too, so building up stock takes a bit of time. My main product at the moment is bracelets, but I have started making brooches and am working away trying to get at least a small amount of stock together before I launch them. I have big ideas to expand my jewellery collection and also to branch out into other button craft items.
Although I do this in my 'spare' time and so it could strictly be called a hobby, I am very particular about quality and presentation and like to think that my standards are very high. I hope my customers think so too. Hopefully joining this site will help to keep me up-to-date with craft fairs that I might be able to take my products to as unfortunately I find that I'm a bit late for most of the Christmas Craft Fairs which are either fully booked or refuse to take any more jewellery!!
Anyway, I'm happy to be here and will certainly recommend the site to my crafting friends.

Hi

I've just joined.
I'm one half of a partnership and cottage industry based in Fife - the other half is my husband.
We are Embroidered Originals, a handmade card and textiles company set up in 1989.
We design and make cards with a very Scottish feel, incorporating various textile techniques, handpainting and a generous amount of gentle humour.
We can be found online, at numerous Craft Shows and in shops and galleries all over Scotland and beyond - our cards that is!
Looking forward to networking with other crafts people in Scotland.

Hi. We are a husband and wife team (Drew & Donna). We recently decided that we want to do something for ourselves as Drew's prospects of finding full time employment seems limited after nearly 2 years unemployed. Drew used to work as a bench joiner & furniture restorer prior to a 20 year stint as a salesperson, latterly a car salesman, so we decided woodworking was the way to go for us.

Donna herself has no woodworking background but as a very versatile woman she has taken the bull by the horns and tackles just about anything that is thrown at her. Her main focus is woodturning though. We work from a couple of sheds in our back garden in Coatbridge but hope one day to move into a larger building as space and storage are very limited.

Where possible we will recycle timber or use it from sustainable sources. We use a local tree surgeon who keeps timber for us and some of our current timber has been stored and dried for the past 8 years in his North Lanarkshire farm.

At the moment we don't have a web site set up but are in the process of sorting that out, we can be found on facebook though.

Hi! My name is Jo and I make handbags and cushions from second 'life' tartans and tweeds.

I work from home in Peterculter, Aberdeen - set up with a pile of fabrics and a good sewing machine. Sometimes it's hard to feel motivated working alone so I'm hoping this kind of network will help boost output!

Hello I have just joined today. I make handcrafted jewellery, costume and special occasion. I enjoy working with different media including polymer clay,dominoes,wire work (crochet and knitting), sea glass and beads. I am based in West Lothian and belong to my local craft association. I sell online via my website and Folksy and also at craft fairs in Edinburgh and the Lothians. I love all things sparkly!

Hi,

I've recently set up a business selling my handmade jewellery, accessories and all kinds of gifts. It's early days yet but I am really enoying it and love doing craft fairs and markets (just wish there were more of them!) Really glad I gave up the 9-5 'real' job! :)

 

If anyone has any advice please get in touch I'd love to hear from other crafters.

Hi

I have just joined this group.My craft is millinery. I make fascinators and other hair embellishments.

I am new to the world of craft fairs as I have only sold by word of mouth and through a couple of shops so far. I tried to get into craft fairs last year but found that the few that I discovered were well booked in advance.

I have been sewing and crafting all my life and I love textiles. My hobby has now taken over my life and I spend as much time as I can creating my tiny hats and fascinators. 

I am delighted to be a member of a craft organisation.

Finally can you tell me how people search for items on this site?
